Mar 4, 2009: DrupalCon DC 2009 at Washington Convention Center
DrupalCon is the official Drupal unconference that attracts the most talented open source developers and innovative web shops in the world and brings them together to share knowledge, make decisions on the future of Drupal, and get to know each other in person.
It's also the premiere opportunity for Drupal users to learn what they can do with Drupal, find partners for future projects, and meet the people behind the code.
In this agenda you can see what the conference will focus on, and as you can see it's designed for both developers and Drupal users. The first three days of the conference will be about learning, while the last day will be about doing - that's when we'll all work together to push code and documentation forward.
DrupalCon is a volunteer run, nonprofit conference. Thanks to everyone who's helped and to our fantastic sponsors, who are letting us keep ticket prices low by paying for more than half of this event!
About DrupalDrupal is a wildly popular, open source content management system that powers websites for everyone from presidential candidates to pop stars to newspapers to neighborhood community groups. It's used by thousands of individuals and organizations around the world.

Using Drupal: Stand Up To Cancer
The wonderful national campaign against cancer uses Drupal for their website, and they even use CCK! Come see how the campaign uses Drupal for the web site and internal organization.
Rain Breaw is the technical supervisor (film industry title that comes closest to "webmaster") of the Stand Up To Cancer website - standup2cancer.org. Launched on May 28, 2008, this website was built for two purposes: 1) to advertise the televised fundraising special that aired on ABC, CBS and NBC on Sept. 5; and 2) to assist the special in its goal of raising millions of dollars for cancer research. SU2C built two major donation-driven interfaces into the website in an effort to increase donations, The Constellation, and the Team Challenge. With a long-term goals of becoming a community environment for those impacted by cancer (everyone), a reporting mechanism for the spending of donation dollars, and a continued donation engine in mind, SU2C also built (and continues to improve) a TV channel, a magazine, a user forum, and other tools into the site.
SU2C's model is to direct 100% of public funds raised to actual cancer research. All labor costs for development of the website and show were underwritten, all tools were donated, and all services were deeply discounted. SU2C initially chose Drupal for its website not out of experience or interest, but because it seemed to be the best affordable option given the extremely limited timeframe SU2C faced (the website was conceived, built and launched in less than 5 months). While Drupal made it possible to launch this complex site in a short period of time, the limited experience of the various parties involved in this project led to unique challenges.
Rain (www.rainbreaw.com) is an independent film director/producer and co-founder of the web and internet media development company, SunRain Productions (www.sunrainproductions.com). Stand Up To Cancer is a detour in Rain's career of which she is quite proud.
